Help & FAQ

Learn how to use Turbo Broccoli effectively

What do the signal colors mean?
Green (Buy zone): The current price is below MA50. This indicates a potential DCA accumulation opportunity.

Yellow (Hold): The price is between MA50 and the sell zone. Neutral — no strong signal either way.

Red (Pause zone): The price is above MA200 + 2×ATR14 (volatility-adjusted). Consider pausing new contributions until price pulls back.
What is Dollar Cost Averaging (DCA)?
Dollar Cost Averaging is an investment strategy where you invest a fixed amount at regular intervals (e.g., $500 monthly), regardless of the stock price. This reduces the impact of volatility and removes the stress of trying to "time the market."
How do moving averages work?
A moving average (MA) is the average closing price over a specific period. MA50 is the average of the last 50 trading days; MA200 covers the last 200 days. When price drops below MA50, it can indicate a DCA accumulation opportunity. When it rises above MA200 + 2×ATR14, the stock may be extended.
Can I customize the moving average periods?
Yes! Go to Settings and adjust the Short, Medium, and Long MA periods. Popular presets include Default (50/50/200), Fibonacci (5/13/34), and Trading (10/25/50).
What is the difference between Watchlist and Holdings?
Watchlist: Stocks you're interested in or researching. No shares tracking.

Holdings: Stocks you actually own. You can track the number of shares, cost basis, and see your total position value.
How often are prices updated?
Prices automatically refresh every 15 minutes while you have the dashboard open. You can also manually refresh by clicking the refresh button in the header.
Where does the data come from?
We use Alpha Vantage as our primary data source, with Yahoo Finance as a fallback. Each stock card shows which data source is currently being used.
Is this financial advice?
No. Turbo Broccoli provides technical signals for educational purposes only. Moving averages are just one of many factors to consider when investing. Always do your own research and consider consulting a financial advisor.
How many stocks can I track?
You can track an unlimited number of stocks in each list (Watchlist and Holdings). All features are free for everyone.
